Newcastle United Linked With Move For Majeed Waris
The latest striker Newcastle are linked with is Majeed Waris.
He may not be French, or be permanently registered with a French Club, but Waris has almost single-handedly given French club Valenciennes a chance of staying up this season.
Spartak Moscow loaned out the 22 year old striker in January and since then he’s score 9 goals in only 12 matches, more than all the rest of Valenciennes’ strikers have scored between them all season. The forward dragging his club up to third bottom, though still one of the favourites to go down.
Despite only starting one match for Spartak Moscow, Waris scored three goals in only four World Cup qualifiers for Ghana and is looking good for a place on the plane to Brazil.
Newcastle are said to have been monitoring the player, though other Premier League clubs such as Everton and Hull are also said to have shown interest.
The player is contracted to Spartak until 2017 but it would appear prudent that if Newcastle, or indeed any other club, were interested then they should act quickly just in case he makes his mark in Brazil this summer.
