Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote has stated his intention to stay at St.James’ Park but has made clear it is only because of the fans that he wants to stick around.
While other players such as Cabaye and Ba have left to try and win trophies because of United’s lack of ambition under Mike Ashley, Tiote also appears to be under no illusions on that side of things.
The Ivory Coast star saying that the Newcastle fans help to make United ‘so different to any other club’ but never once does Tiote state that he wants to stay because he believes the club is going to win things, or there is a great future ahead.
“Newcastle is like a family, I have been here 4 years and I love playing for the club – it is the best thing i have ever done in my career and I want to give my best to the club.
“It is the sort if place where you want to stay, it is so different to any other club, we know the fans are 200% behind us but sometimes we have bad games.
“When I stop playing I will be able to tell my children that I played at St.James’ Park in front of fifty thousand in that great atmosphere.”
