Newcastle United have continued to make headlines but not in a positive way, now a PR league table has placed Newcastle top of the pile.

Yes, just edging out Sunderland and Manchester United, Newcastle have been judged the club that comes out top at being bottom for PR.

These are the top ten clubs compiled by the Press Gazette;

1 – Newcastle United

Manchester United may have the history but this north east clubs recent form has been second to none, with Alan Pardew even blaming the press for a run of poor results. The north east club banned the Telegraph last year because it reported dressing room discord and then the local press ban came about in the wake of reports of a fan protest against the club.

2- Manchester United

3 – Sunderland

The Sun declared war on Newcastle United’s rivals last month and referred to them only as ‘Derland’, after the newspaper was banned for revealing starting line-ups.

4 – Nottingham Forest

5 – Chelsea

6 – Cardiff

7 – Rotherham

8 – Port Vale

9 – Crawley

10 – Swindon

Overall Verdict: ‘It is tight at the top but under current management it is difficult to see Newcastle being caught up.’
