Mike Ashley Identifies Alan Pardew Replacement With Two Big Advantages
It is reported this morning that Mike Ashley has indentified an Alan Pardew replacement who happens to have two key ingredients to bring to the Newcastle job.
Tony Pulis is said to be the manager Ashley has put in the frame to come in this summer, following the amazing job he has done in keeping Crystal Palace up.
‘Ashley is a big fan of the straight talking Welshman (Pulis) and is poised to change managers this summer with Pardew failing to deliver results amid unrest in the dressing room and stands’.
Meanwhile on this morning’s Sunday Supplement on Sky, journalist Andy Dunn said;
“When there’s so much emphasis put on remaining in the Premier League he’s basically at a premium – take Tony Pulis and stay in the Premier League.”
Following that, fellow journo Patrick Barclay put an amusing twist on the story by pointing out that Pulis’ dress sense also put him at a big advantage;
“The great thing about Pulis is that he is right for Ashley because he already wears the club (Sports Direct!) merchandise!”
While it is difficult to find anybody who believes Pardew is still the man for the job at St.James’ Park, it may prove nearly as difficult to find any United supporter who would be enthused by Pulis replacing him.
Come the summer, Pulis would have two years left of his contract and a figure of £3m compensation has been mentioned in the reports.
Ironically, ever since Newcastle’s fortunate late win against Palace, United have lost all five matches and Palace have won all five, including wins over Everton and Chelsea.
Funny old game.
