Ex-Newcastle United Chairman Freddy Shepherd has said that he would be up for a pint with Alan Pardew but that Sir John Hall would have sacked the Newcastle manager after the ‘headbutt’ incident at Hull

In the latest quotes from an interview with the Chronicle, Shepherd has said though that almost certainly most other top clubs would have sacked Pardew for the incident.

“I think the board at that time, not particularly me, with Sir John (Hall) would have had him on his bike.

“Who knows the emotion that he was going through?

“I like the guy, I have met him and in normal circumstances you would certainly have a pint with the guy, he is fine, he just lost it that day.

“Would he have survived if he was at Liverpool, Manchester United or Chelsea? I doubt it.”

The thought of Freddy Shepherd and Alan Pardew having a few beers in the Strawberry conjures up all kinds of thoughts, not many of them pleasant.
