Despite Ban The Chronicle Join In With Newcastle United April Fool
Earlier today we brought you news of a [intlink id=”41312″ type=”post”]Newcastle United April Fool[/intlink].
Now we can reveal that the Chronicle have put their differences to one side and are laughing along with the club.
This morning the club published an article online asking for fans to vote for their Newcastle United March player of the month.
Not the best month for any of us and the only decent match was Hull on the first day, while they did score a late winner against Palace in a poor performance – other than that there were three shocking defeats to Fulham, Everton and Southampton.
Newcastle United offered a choice of Sissoko – fair enough he scored twice against Hull and has run around a lot, another choice was Cisse – well he did score the winner in the Palace match and has run around a bit, but the third choice was Rob Elliot!
A creditable display against Southampton, yes – but a candidate for player of the month after playing one match and letting in four, surely not!
We pointed out that by the club nominating Elliot they were making themselves look at laughing stock, inadvertently saying ‘look how crap we are, our best player this month only played once and let in four goals, that is how rubbish our club is’.
A lot of fans responded to our article by saying at first they thought it was an April Fool until they realised our club were serious – even they wouldn’t humiliate their own players that badly…
However, unbelievably the Chronicle have put their differences with the club aside and as one of the possible selections in their own player of the month competition, also put Rob Elliot up!
For the record, the other three they have given as a choice are Moussa Sissoko, Vurnon Anita and Cheick Tiote.
I’d love to think the Chronicle were having a laugh but I have my doubts.
Anyway, there is only one thing for it, WE ALL HAVE TO MAKE SURE ROB GETS THIS AWARD, so please visit the Chronicle’s voting page by clicking HERE and please ask your friends and family to share the joke.
