Dan Gosling ‘Cardiff Match Is Our Cup Final’
i think we are getting to the point where we let Alan Pardew’s patter just wash over us, the same with his players, but this latest rubbish from Dan Gosling simply takes the biscuit.
There has been stiff competition, particularly from the manager, but this drivel from the Newcastle midfielder surely stands alone.
Speaking to the club’s official TV channel after the three goal defeat by Arsenal, Gosling had the following to say;
“It’s unfortunate we couldn’t get the win tonight for the fans who always travel in numbers.
“On Saturday we need all the fans, we need forty, fifty thousand there at St.James’ Park and we need them all supporting us. We need the win and we’ll go all out to try and get that win and send them home happy.
“It’s a massive game, it’s our cup final. It’s probably there’s as well, if they don’t win I think they’re down.
“We know that and they know that, plus they’ll know St.James’ Park is not an easy place to come to.”
Taking the last thing first, sadly I have to say that St.James’ Park has been a very easy place to come to in recent times.
In the last ten matches at home, Newcastle have lost eight of them – scoring four and conceding twenty one!
As for Saturday being our ‘Cup Final’…I might not have enjoyed what happened during the Wembley visits in ’98 and ’99 but I certainly looked forward with much anticipation to them, as for Saturday…
The players (or at least some of them) are brainwashed with this whole finishing top ten thing, I don’t know a single supporter who has said to me they are in any way bothered about finishing tenth or eleventh, it is irrelevant.
Enjoy your Cup Final Dan.
