Ben Arfa Flies Back In To Face Arsenal

In a surprising turn of events, Hatem Ben Arfa has declared himself fit to face Arsenal on Monday night…if selected.

While most fans had assumed it may well have been the last we’d see of the winger after he was pictured departing Newcastle Airport ahead of the Swansea match, at least for this season, the Shields Gazette have revealed that Hatem has said that he is over his ‘dead leg’injury and is available if Alan Pardew decides to use him.

Ben Arfa scored a brilliant goal two seasons ago when Newcastle were competing for the top four, only to see Van Persie instantly equalise and then Vermaelen cruelly win it in the last minute.

Alan Pardew has made encouraging noises about Sissoko been ok to start Monday’s match, as well as both Debuchy and Remy who got pitch time against Swansea.

So that would make it extra difficult for Ben Arfa to get anywhere near the starting line up.

However, I doubt that many fans think that Alan Pardew’s game plan will be anything other than flooding the midfield to try and frustrate the Gunners.

If Hatem does get on the pitch then no doubt it will be when Newcastle are a minimum of two or three down and he’s thrown into another hopeless situation.
