Alan Pardew ‘Perhaps A Stronger Squad Is The Way Forward’
Speaking before the Arsenal game and looking forward to next season, Alan Pardew has stated that ‘perhaps a stronger squad is the way forward’.
When awards are made for understatement of the year, that particular Pardewism must be a leading contender.
“Perhaps a stronger squad is the way forward, that’s something that I don’t think me and Mike (Ashley) have any issue on, we are pretty solid on that.
“Shola is an experienced player at this football club and I think we all know he is somebody who has a good knowledge of the game and a good knowledge of this football club.
“I think he knows that there is an improvement but since we lost Yohan in the last transfer window, I think we definitely need to go back to that level at least next year.”
However, when Pardew talks about losing Yohan Cabaye and needing to get back to ‘that level’, let us all hope that he is talking about aiming to bring in a number of players of Yohan’s quality and now just bringing the squad back up to that strength in terms of number.
In other words only signing the one (or two) new players as per what Pardew has previously said we’d be looking to do, after Mike Ashley dragged him back into line after the Newcastle manager had previously said major rebuilding was needed.
