Alan Pardew – ‘Maybe’ We’ll Have Two Players Back From Injury

Hopefully we’ll get a more informed update today but when Alan Pardew said that ‘maybe’ Loic Remy and Tim Krul will be coming back from injury in time for Stoke, you could really make anything of his comments.

What I’m guessing is clear for most of us is that there is very little hope of a positive result, or even a goal, if Loic Remy doesn’t make it for Saturday.

While despite this season not being his best, we were reminded yet again of the lack of back up for Tim Krul with Rob Elliot looking really poor against Manchester United, but there is little doubt that it is without a goal threat other teams have little to fear.

This is what Alan Pardew had to say;

“We have got to make sure everybody is available and maybe we will have Loic (Remy) back, maybe Tim (Krul) will be back.

“Loic is not too far away and it will be a boost for the squad if we can get him back in and around us.

“Hopefully we can do that for Stoke because that is a big game for us, we’ve lost two heavily at home.”

Earlier in the week, the Newcastle manager talked about bouncing back from the recent desperate form and specifically talked about the two remaining home matches being ‘massive’.

If I had to guess I think Tim Krul could well be back for Stoke but think it is only a tiny chance of Remy even being on the bench.

The player won’t want to risk himself if he is not 100%, especially with the World Cup looming, while Alan Pardew is under no illusions that he needs to target those two matches at St.James’ Park with the recent poisonous atmosphere at home games and strong rumours of ‘massive’ numbers of season ticket holders having already cancelled their direct debits.
