Alan Pardew ‘It’s Very Important We Get Players Who Want To Be Here’

Alan Pardew has declared in advance of the summer window, that ‘it’s very important we get players who want to be here’.

I don’t think it takes much imagination to wonder who in particular that remark is aimed at…

The manager went on to claim that there has been a big ‘upside’ though this season, with the ‘undercurrent of the first team’ a big plus.

Alan Pardew

“I think it is very important that we get players who want to be here, who are constantly focused on the result for this team, and also to improve it.

“I think Shola’s comments last week were something that we carry across the whole club, we want to improve.

“The upside this season has been the undercurrent of the first team which has grown significantly.

“We had a tremendous result this week at Academy level and I think I’m really buoyed by that.

“I think one or two of those could step up next year.

“That’s a good thing but obviously we need to recruit and that is something we’ll all be focusing on this week too.”

I can only assume that the tremendous result the Newcastle manager is talking about is the reserves beating Blyth Spartans in the Northumberland Senior Cup.

Always good to see a Newcastle team winning any match but surely it is clutching at very thin straws to proclaim this as a great leap forward.
