Spanish Media Report Barcelona Wants Krul As Number Two

Victor Valdes is on his way out of Barcelona in the summer and the transfer of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has already been agreed with Borussia Monchengladbach.

However, reports in Spain today say that Barcelona want to bring in two keepers to compete for the number one jersey and Tim Krul heads their list of goalkeepers to fill that position. According to the Spanish press, initially Newcastle’s Dutch keeper would be seen as second choice but with every chance of getting ahead of Ter Stegen as number one.

Krul has fallen short of his previous high standards in a strange season that has mirrored the club overall. While he had that game at White Hart Lane and won a Premier League player of the month award, in recent matches. While on the other hand he’s endured a recent run of games where such as Hull, Spurs and Fulham he let in goals that he would dealt with comfortably previously.

As to how strong the Barcelona rumours are is anybody’s guess but Krul would look sure to be one player who will be evaluating his situation in the summer, especially as he looks now to have no chance of appearing in Brazil this summer even as a squad player, never mind being Dutch number one.
