An early press conference this morning ahead of the Southampton match brought mixed news from Alan Pardew, though the most positive was a Loic Remy return date put forward by the Newcastle manager.
Pardew has stated that he thinks his (only?) striker will train on Monday which will give him a great chance of facing Manchester United a week on Saturday.
“We think Loic Remy will train on Monday which means that he is going to train over the weekend – so he has got a good chance for Manchester United.”
However, Pardew thinks that Mathieu Debuchy won’t be back until towards the end of April,
“We think (Debuchy) will be a bit longer than that, maybe another couple of weeks.”
The Newcastle manager also confirmed that while Tim Krul wil definitely miss Southampton on Saturday with a knee injury, in total he will miss at least two or three matches in total.
