Newcastle United Linked With Move For Paulinho

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Paulinho.

The Brazilian striker has scored ten goals in Serie A so far this season for Livorno, which is a decent return considering his club are third bottom of the table and likely to be relegated.

Calcio News 24 have reported Newcastle’s interest along with Sunderland’s, the mackems are claimed to have been one of the clubs to make a bid for the player in the January window.

The 28 year old striker has been given a £12m price tag by the Italian press, a figure which would appear wildly optimistic as while the striker has got a decent scoring record over the last seasons with 35 league goals, they were scored in the second tier of Italian football.

The forward’s full name is Paulo Sergio Betanin and he has been at Livorno all his career, apart from a couple of loan spells in the lower divisions with Grosseto and Sorrento.

His profile wouldn’t suggest a move to Newcastle is likely unless he was available at a bargain price which could just be possible if Livorno get relegated.
