Newcastle Linked With Move For Arsenal Striker

Reports coming out of London say that both Newcastle and Swansea have enquired about signing Arsenal striker Joel Campbell in the summer.

Campbell has been at the Emirates for two and a half years after moving from Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa, however he has been almost permanently out on loan ever since.

Showing the strength of sides such as the Gunners, this season Campbell has been playing for Olympiakos who have already won the Greek domestic league.

Campbell has contributed eleven goals and the same number of assists as the Greek champions have also excelled in the Champions League, narrowly going out to Manchester United with Campbell starting both legs of that tie.

A versatile striker who can also play wide, Campbell has spoken about his future;

I don’t know what will happen with Arsenal, I have two years left of my contract and they’ll decide what will happen.”

Despite the lack of matches for Arsenal, Campbell is a regular for Costa Rica despite still being only 21.

Olympiakos are hopeful they can make his deal permanent but even with Champions League football it would be difficult for the Greek champions to compete with Premier League clubs in terms of wages.
