Newcastle French Trio Play Alongside Cabaye And Beat Holland

8 years ago

Newcastle French trio Mathieu Debuchy, Loic Remy and Moussa Sissoko all got game time tonight as France ran out two goal winners against Holland, Tim Krul not having made the Dutch squad.

However, the signs are a lot more optimistic for the three United players, who look to have a great chance of being on the plane to Brazil having been involved in this key friendly.

Coach Didier Descamps underlining the importance by saying in advance of the match;

“We must maintain our form in a prestigious game against the Netherlands because it will be essential for the games in Brazil.”

Debuchy played all but the last three minutes when Sagna replaced him, while Remy replaced Griezmann in the 68th minute and Sissoko came on for Pogba with nine minutes left on the clock.

Yohan Cabaye will have enjoyed a rare start and full 90 minutes, though Descamps had said before the match that he wasn’t concerned by the lack of minutes on the pitch that the ex-Newcastle midfielder has had since returning to France.

France’s two goals came from Benzema and Cabaye’s new PSG teammate Matuidi.
