Would Tim Krul Place Be In Doubt If Had Competition? – Watch The Footage

He is one of my favourite players but if Newcastle had real competition, would Tim Krul place in the team be under real pressure?

Look at the goal he conceded on Saturday, any decent keeper should have saved that, never mind Tim Krul who at his best/normal standard would have saved it with his eyes closed.

While our Dutch keeper kept a clean sheet against Villa, I make it that he has now conceded four poor to shocking goals that he must be really disappointed with.

Newcastle may have beaten Hull 4-1 but the goal Krul conceded was just a hopeful free-kick from wide left that he didn’t get anywhere near and Davies had a free header to score. While in the Spurs home match, two of the goals were the result of Tim Krul palming the ball out and twice players had simple tap-ins. Again, at his best he would never have conceded either of those.

Whether it is the standard of goalkeeping coaching at Newcastle or just the overall chaos getting even to him, once one of our ultra reliable performers, it has to be a worry when these goals aren’t just one-offs.

This is what Krul had to say about that goal at Craven Cottage, watch the footage below to decide for yourself;

“The shot moved a lot in air and it dipped at the end, but at the end of the day, I need to save those.

“I know it is hard but I think somebody was maybe in my view as well.”
