Loic Remy Available For £8Million In The Summer
News this morning of Loic Remy available for only £8million at the end of this season.
The latest twist is being widely reported and relates to a contract clause which when he signed for QPR, was much talked about.
Remy of course would have to activate the clause himself if a club was interested but it is hard to see him having any interest in staying at Rangers, even if they do get promotion to the Premier League – something which the odds are against at the moment with Redknapp’s team six points off an automatic promotion place.
It was our old mate ‘arry who of course muddied the waters by claiming that it would take at least £15m to prise the player away from Rangers permanently. The QPR manager claiming he wasn’t aware of any clause – however, as we know from past experience, relying on what Redknapp says isn’t always very sensible.
Arsenal are the club that once again are said to be the likely destination in the summer, with Newcastle United not being given a realistic chance.
One thing that does seem certain is that the last two months of the season will see speculation continue to grow as to what Remy will do in the summer. Sadly he has never given any indication that he has any intention of staying at Newcastle permanently and the idea of Mike Ashley paying the striker over £100,000 a week, as well as the transfer fee, looks even more unlikely.
