On Loan Newcastle Player To Be Released In Summer

It is reported today that Newcastle on loan player Conor Newton is set to be released in this summer when his contract ends.

Twenty two year old Newton of course won the Scottish League Cup last season, along with Paul Dummet who was also at St.Mirren.

While Dummet has now found first team football with Newcastle, after signing a further one year contract with United, Newton was instantly loaned straight back to St.Mirren for a further year.

According to the Scottish media, Newcastle are letting him go, but it looks very unlikely he will stay at St.Mirren where he has been first choice all season.

It is said that his alleged wage demands of £4,000 a week would be too rich for St.Mirren and that there is already alternative interest from both Rangers and Championship clubs in England.

Whatever happens, it appears that Newcastle born Newton is one of the few Newcastle players to really advance thanks to his loan experience, and while he may fall short of playing in the Premier League he looks destined for a very good career just below that level.
