Good and Bad Everton Injury News For Newcastle Match

The Everton injury news for manager Roberto Martinez is a mixture of positive and negative.

The good news is that the diminutive Steven Pienaar, who has often played so well against Newcastle, won’t be fit enough to face United on Tuesday night.

On the other hand, centre-back Phil Jagielka is back from injury but according to the official Everton websitem Martinez will wait until match day before deciding whether to use him or save him for their following match away at Fulham.

Elsewhere in the Toffees’ squad, longer term injuries who will also miss the trip to St.James’ Park are Lacina Traore, Arouna Kone, Bryan Oviedo and Darren Gibson.

Everton are undoubtedly playing more attractive and open football under Martinez as opposed to what they did under David Moyes.

The weekend’s match against Swansea was further proof of that, with five goals shared and Everton coming out just on top.
