Fans Choose 3 Changes In Their Newcastle v Southampton Starting 11

We asked you to pick your Newcastle v Southampton starting 11 and thought the results could be of special interest this time around.

The headline news is that while Alan Pardew has said he’s not sure whether he will play Hatem Ben Arfa against Southampton, the fans are in absolutely no doubt.

Only Newcastle’s Captain and Tiote and Sissoko, both decent on Tuesday night, getting a higher number of votes than Hatem who got a resounding 94% of fans voting for him to start.

The player who Pardew would most likely leave out to accommodate Ben Arfa, Luuk De Jong, got only 39% with his total lack of threat near goal meaning his hard work is seen as a poor substitute.

The other main points of interest are that two other changes clearly stand out, as well as the enforced replacement of Krul by Elliot.

While Davide Santon’s form was indifferent before he got injured, the supporters who voted have made clear that they’d like to see a new full-back pairing of Santon (68%) and the disgracefully underused Massadio Haidara (64%).

Mapou (42%) is clearly not a full-back and needs to be given a chance to see whetehr he sinks or swims in his true position in the middle, while Paul Dummett (26%) has looking increasingly exposed on the left and was really taken to the cleaners against Everton.

The first eleven/team chosen by the fans is in bold below with the other ratings below.
