Don’t Just Give Up – Your Chance To Give A Hand

Regional charity, St Cuthberts Care – of which the Alan Shearer Foundation is a part of, are asking for people to give their time to help others and volunteer at one of the organisation’s projects across the North East.

As well as the traditional attempts at ‘Giving Up’ in the run up to Easter, the charity is calling on people to ‘lend a hand for Lent’ and make a real difference through positive actions, with a wide range of opportunities to get involved.

“We would like people to join us to share their skills and experience,” said Volunteer Co-ordinator, Nicola Milne. “We are particularly keen to hear from people who can help out at our activity sessions for disabled adults at the Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle, those who would like to support residents in either of our two nursing homes in Newcastle and Sunderland,or perhaps those who have craft or professional talents to demonstrate.”

From giving free advice and business know-how to staff, to offering hands on skills for service users, the charity would be happy to hear from anyone with a flair they can share – from solicitors to face painters, PR gurus to physiotherapists.

“Why not take this Lent as an opportunity to do something worthwhile to help others in the community by giving a commitment to make a difference,” says Nicola.

If you would like to volunteer to give some time or share your specialist abilities with St Cuthberts Care, then browse the list of opportunities available on their website http://stcuthbertscare.org.uk/support/volunteer.php or contact Nicola by phone on 0191 267 8118, or email at [email protected] for more information.
