News this morning that a cruel injury puts Newcastle defender World Cup place in jeopardy.
With only two months until the end of the season when World Cup squads will be getting together, Curtis Good has suffered a n injury that could sadly scupper his dreams of Brazil.
Ironically the injury was sustained while Good was impressing on his full international debut for the Socceroos, injury forcing him off when Australia were 3-2 up against Ecuador.
The player has returned to Newcastle United to get treatment for the hip flexor injury and to recuperate.
Things were going so well for Good and he was arguably the biggest success story of Newcastle’s players who are out on loan, in his absence Dundee United hammered Inverness 5-0 away from home to progress to the Scottish Cup semi-finals where they will face lower league opposition and every chance of a final appearance. Something else that Good may miss out on.
In terms of the World Cup, Good will be focused on a glimmer of hope he may be available and selected for a 30 man training camp Australia have organised on the Central Coast from May 16-22, before they then play South Africa on May 26 in a friendly, then the squad departing for Brazil a few days later.
Fingers crossed all round for the young Newcastle defender.
