Confirmed Tim Krul Definitely Misses Southampton

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Southampton, Alan Pardew has a number of injury doubts to clear up before he selects his team and indeed squad.

After some poor goals conceded, Krul looked to be back to something like his best against Everton, despite the scoreline, plus of course he kept clean sheets in both the late wins against Palace and Villa.

However, the breaking news just in from the club is that Krul definitely misses Southampton with a knee injury, believed to have been picked up in a collision when Lukaku scored Everton’s opener.

Rob Elliot is set to deputise.

The good news is that John Carver has said that Davide Santon is back from his bout of tonsillitis and will return to training with the first team today, having spent some time with the reserves;

“Davide’s had two or days training with the under 21s and now he will join with us in Thursday and we will see what he is like.”

Whether Santon will come straight back into the team is an interesting one and all may depend on how he viewed the performance of Paul Dummett who had a tough night against Everton’s clever play going forward.
