Appointment Of Chief Scout Could Be Decisive Factor In Remy Signing

It is being reported that Ian Broomfield’s return to Spurs as Chief Scout could lead to Loic Remy signing for Tottenham in the summer.

While at QPR, Broomfield was the main man who orchestrated the Remy deal that hijacked the striker’s move to Newcastle at the last minute just over a year ago.

Broomfield had been at Tottenham previous to moving to QPR and over time had been in various discussions to try and take Remy to White Hart Lane from Marseille, before he eventually sealed the deal while at Loftus Road.

With Remy’s weekly wage said to be in the region of £100,000 a week, it is little wonder that it is almost exclusively English clubs being linked with the player, as outside of the Premier League there are only the obvious few who could afford the striker.

Whether Newcastle will make a serious attempt to make Remy’s stay permanent is open to question considering Mike Ashley’s ‘plan’ at the moment, though anybody who watched the Fulham fiasco yesterday will know the difference it makes when United don’t have him in the team.
