Could All Be Well At Newcastle In Three Weeks Time?

So the question  – could all be well with Newcastle again in three weeks time?

The reason I pose the question is due to a number of cup games, outside of our control, which could have things starting to look up.

Now if you were to ask me whose season I would rather have at the minute, I think that would be a no-brainer, Sunderland’s.

However, the next three weeks could have a massive bearing on changing that opinion for more than a few fans.

Forgetting the fact we all want Sunderland to get a good hiding in the final, it would also open up another Europa league place to a league position. Now should the FA cup produce European positioned finalists, all of sudden 7th will also be up for grabs.

Now I understand there is a lot of ifs and buts there but let’s be frank, it’s more than possible.

Given our next two games are Hull and Fulham away, 2 victories shouldn’t be out the question. Now as much as the club don’t want to be in the Europa league, don’t you think they are  thinking the same at Man Utd?

Should Sunderland find themselves out of two cups and still in the relegation zone in 3 weeks, rightly or wrongly, many fans will rediscover their voice and some optimism.

Anyone who was at the Villa game can claim that the fans can force this team over the line.

I must admit I approached the game seeing it as completely pointless. The majority of fans I’m sure shared my opinion in they felt they were there more through loyalty and the need to show their face, rather than in optimism and belief.

A crowd that felt broken…then fast forward to iron Mike’s wonder tackle and we almost all stood up in unity.

‘F*** this, let’s have a go and forget about everything else for now…’

For the last 10 minutes the noise was back, the belief and some grit! We can turn a team round and with that bit extra quality that Remy brings we got the result (not that the game was a classic or the result deserved).

Would any other team have won that game from that position?

I say team but really I mean supporters.

Given a hopeful demise at Sunderland and small chance of Europe, the crowd will push the team all the way and who knows, maybe something could just be possible from this nightmare season after all.
