Three Positives For United Ahead Of Sunday
Sunday’s Aston Villa clash is not critical for United in terms of either extreme of the Premier League table.
However, a dismal run of form and results leaves everybody involved with Newcastle United urgently in need of a lift, not least Alan Pardew.
The Newcastle manager’s luck may be about to change, at least on paper, as Pardew is hopeful that arguably his three most influential outfield players will return, according to the Northern Echo.
Loic Remy is of course a certainty to return and needless to say that in his three game absence, the United attack has been desperate and Luuk De Jong left totally exposed, having to lead the attack after only 72 minutes of Bundesliga football this season before his loan move.
Pardew’s captain Coloccini is also hopefully returning, the manager revealing Colo has been training well and should come in for Williamson or Taylor – take your pick.
Another area of the team that has really suffered is the centre of midfield and the Anita/Sissoko partnership has proved impotent as Chelsea and Spurs have dominated that area. Thankfully Cheick Tiote should also be back with Alan Pardew having this to say about the midfielder;
“He has got a good chance of being involved, we have missed his all-round game – especially against that powerful Spurs midfield. He was the last person we could have done with being without – they are very very good with the ball technically.
We have missed his leadership qualities in the midfield.”
