Alan Pardew transfer talk yesterday, a bit strange when a window has just shut with the club choosing not to buy anybody for a second window in a row and with the next opportunity to buy players not until July.
So why do you think the Newcastle manager chose this moment in time to talk about bringing players in?
Is it to give us a genuine insight into a club transfer strategy that is going to burst into life and sign ‘three or four great players’….
Or is that orders have come down from Ashley, “Look, thousands of them mugs are chucking in their season tickets, I don’t care what bollocks you tell them but just tell them the club’s great, we’re great, everything’sgreat and we’re going to sign loads of great players on that list JFK was ‘working on’ and throw in a few terrifics as well, comprende my old son?!!”
This is what Alan Pardew had to say;
“I’m very focused and we have a great group of scouts led by Graham Carr, they have always been working in the background.
“We have a list just as we did in the last window, we’ll work towards that list and obviously we have a lot of work to do because actually this summer we have a few changes to make.
“We’ve got a few players out of contract and we’ve got one or two player areas that we really need to strengthen.
“When you look at our record you have to say it is terrific, absolutely terrific what we’ve spent, you look at the other clubs in this division, what they’ve spent, and we have done very very well and we will continue to do so.
“In the summer hopefully we can bring three or four great players in, let’s hope so because this club deserves that.”
