Pardew ‘More Often Than Not We’ve Been Brilliant’

At today’s Chelsea v Newcastle press conference, Alan Pardew covered a wide range of subjects – as per usual with him being the sole spokesman for the club.

One of the questions he answered was whether it was a problem, with Joe Kinnear leaving, of being the sole spokesman for Newcastle United;

“Well to be honest I’ve probably been in that position for a long time and I might have to carry that responsibility and I have no problem with that.

“I don’t want to talk about other things than football if I’m honest but sometimes you do and I give the best answers that I can.

“The most important thing as manager of this team is understanding the passion of our fans and understanding that they want a team that comes out every week and gives a fantastic level of performance.

“Now this year we’ve let them down on a handful of occasions, other times we’ve been absolutely terrific and more often not we‘ve been brilliant.

“We take that confidence into the Chelsea game.”

Trying to be fair to the manager , Newcastle have had some stand out performances such as against Chelsea and Manchester United but to claim that in most matches ‘we’ve been brilliant’ is simply not true, unless you have  a completely different definition of what is brilliant to me.

To say about taking confidence into the Chelsea game is beyond belief, selling our best player and only bottom club Fulham are keeping Newcastle off the foot of the recent form table. One win in the the last six Premier League matches and no goals in five of those games, plus a shocking FA Cup defeat to Cardiff, not to mention the total embarrassment against the mackems.

Yes I can just about see the confidence flowing through the veins of our players…
