Pardew Newcastle Injury Update Ahead Of Villa

A desperate run of five consecutive home defeats means the pressure is really on the manager and Alan Pardew has given a Newcastle injury update ahead of Sunday’s visit of Aston Villa.

While Loic Remy is now suspension free, at the other end of the pitch the Newcastle boss is desperate to have his captain back to halt a run of home Premier League scorelines showing 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 0-4.

Alan Pardew has told the Shields Gazette;

“He (Coloccini) was in all weekend so he has had 4 or 5 days, he’s worked hard and he is looking better.”

Coloccini has missed almost two months of matches after picking up an injury on New Year’s day at West Brom.

Elsewhere, Pardew hopes to add some much needed strength into the heart of his recently feeble central midfield area, the manager also announcing that, “Cheick (Tiote) is running well.”

While Tiote would of course not have Yohan Cabaye at his side, a partnership which was often a match for any in the Premier League, it is vital that the Ivory Coast international gets back in the middle.

Every match now Newcastle are losing that key central midfield battle, which subsequently then really exposes the obvious weaknesses of the likes of Williamson and Taylor when they are left without a shield in front of them.

Everything of course has a knock-on effect and if Tiote comes back in, it may also mean we get something out of Moussa Sissoko who has looked increasingly ragged and lost in recent games, not seemingly having any idea of where he should be playing and what he needs to be doing.

Hopefully getting the spine of the team (less Cabaye) back will quite literally put soem backbone back into Newcastle’s season.
