Pardew ‘If Finish Above Manchester United Would Be Hell Of An Achievement For This Club’

Speaking ahead of the game At St.James’ Park against Tottenham, Alan Pardew has insisted if Newcastle finish above Manchester United, it ‘would be hell of an achievement’.

Newcastle currently trail Manchester United by four points and while the Old Trafford club have their own problems at the minute, for Newcastle it is hard to see where our next win is coming from.

Or even our next goal, when you take into account United have failed to score in six of the last seven Premier League matches.

This is what Alan Pardew had to say;

“You’re never safe from relegation until you have forty points in the bag, so we ‘re not safe.

“There’s always an incentive in football, always, professional pride is the minimum.

“The Manchester United result yesterday cheered me up because it gives us a chance to try and catch them.

“If we can finish above Manchester United that would be a hell of an achievement for this club, regardless of anything else.

“So that is the immediate incentive for us and then see where it takes us.”

While I’d prefer to finish above Manchester United I don’t think you can keep moving the goalposts.

Yes it would be something to celebrate if Newcastle emulated their points total of two seasons ago and in the process finished ahead of the Mancs but not in the unlikely event that they totally collapsed and we crawled past them.
