Nothing Sacred At Newcastle United When Mike Ashley Is Around – Photo Proof

There are the obvious things that upset fans about Mike Ashley and his running (into the ground) of Newcastle United, stuff like not buying any players in a whole year and employing Joe Kinnear, yet again.

Then you have the way Ashley treated club legends such as Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer, with even the humiliation at the Keegan tribunal when it was proven that he’d been lied to with regard to having the final say on transfers etc.

The club policy of not competing in cups is plain depressing, while the fact the club receives nothing in revenue for the multitude of advertising for Ashley’s brands at St.James’ Park, helps to ensure that the club has little chance of ever growing organically to compete.

Plus of course we have the really tacky stuff, encapsulated by the renaming of St.James’ Park to include Ashley’s company name, with again not an extra penny going into the Newcastle United coffers from the central (and massive money making) part of Ashley’s empire.

However, today it has been pointed out (thanks to Roy Kaviani) that there is yet another example of the total lack of class shown by our owner.

Just look what he has had slapped on the ‘Howay The Lads’ sign as the players run out, the bit that makes a statement to visiting players of what your club is all about. Just imagine something as tacky as this being added to ‘This Is Anfield’ – you just can’t, can you?
