We asked fans to choose their Newcastle v Spurs starting 11 and it has thrown up some interesting debate.

If Alan Pardew followed the fans’ line then it would see three changes from the team that faced Chelsea last Saturday.

newcastle v spurs starting 11One of those is enforced with Debuchy almost certainly missing, so Mapou will surely start at right-back, with Santon continuing in midfield following support from Pardew for the Italian this week.

With Cisse expected to be fit it has led to two in every three fans (63%) choosing him up front in some kind of combination with De Jong and Ben Arfa, with Sammy Ameobi missing out.

Shola isn’t at the top of many wish lists with even totally untried 17 year old Adam Arnstrong (16%) preferred to the non-scoring Ameobi.

While Pardew was quick to praise Dummett (37%) after Chelsea, fans appear to definitely think Haidara (68%) deserves his chance at full-back.

The true story of all this is that Newcastle are on the bones of their backside and players who had been dismissed suplus to requirements by many fans (Ben Arfa, Cisse etc) are now seen as our best/only chance of pulling something together.

A goal would be nice!
