Newcastle United Attempt To Starve Fans Into Submission

While any progress on the commercial front has to be welcome, I did smile when I saw there was now an official Newcastle United pizza partner.

I can’t see it being a real money spinner for the club because the partnership only applies to six local stores in the north east.

However, anything that gives us a laugh must be welcome.

The deal with the Papa John’s chain means that (subject to X number of conditions), Newcastle fans can get half price pizzas after a United match IF the team score two or more goals.

I conjure up this mental image of thousands of Geordies (blokes especially…) praying that the team score two or else they’ll not get fed.

For the record, in 24 matches so far this season, we would have eaten 11 times and gone hungry on 13 occasions.

While it was a lean August with no double goal matches, September/October was pizza frenzy with five in a row, while November would have seen us eating on 3 out of 4 occasions.

The post-Christmas diet would have gone marvellously well though, as in our last six Premier League matches we’d have starved on five occasions with not even one goal in any of those five, only the West Ham match would have seen you satisfied.

Sadly I think the diet is going to continue and Papa John’s will not be having to knock many half price pizzas out in the near future, Chelsea & Spurs without Remy, plus Cabaye away as well.

When do you think we’ll be well fed again?
