In a sideshow to the main news of Joe KInnear’s sacking/resignation, it is now the turn of Newcastle reserve team manager, Willie Donachie, to resign.

The United Under 21/reserve team manager was earlier suspended after reports of an altercation after the kids’ derby defeat against Sunderland earlier this week.

Today various media have claimed that the altercation had surrounded an incident with Newcastle United defender Remie Streete, and that sixty two year old Donachie had struck him.

The club have released yet another short and sweet press release;

Club Statement

Newcastle United can confirm that Willie Donachie has resigned from his position as Reserve Team Manager with immediate effect.

The Club will be making no further comment
