Mike Ashley In Dublin Not Newcastle As Club Falls Apart
Despite pre-match speculation, the Newcastle owner wasn’t at St.James’ Park on Saturday and now news has emerged of Mike Ashley in Dublin at the weekend.
As the club implodes and thousands of angry fans are throwing in their season tickets, one fan doing it literally on the pitch, Ashley instead was off trying to tie up yet another business deal to expand his ever expanding fortune.
Ashley flew to Dublin to try and prevent the proposed sale of Elverys Sports to investors and management, as reported by the Irish Times.
As part of his empire, Mike Ashley’s SD owns a 50% stake in Heatons, an Irish department store chain. Heatons wants to buy Elverys which is an Irish sports chain with 55 stores around Ireland and so in a last ditch attempt is trying to hijack the deal that is all but finalised by his rivals.
Ashley’s ruthless drive to expand his business empire is in stark contrast to the way he runs Newcastle United, it is not essential that the owner attends every match but when he refuses to employ a proper management team to run it on his behalf then what hope is there for Newcastle United?
Ashley’s main man Joe Kinnear was also nowhere to be seen at the derby match, obviously having a deserved rest after a busy transfer window selling our best player.
Watch out for the free adverts for Heatons/Elverys at St.James’ Park very soon, we know our place all too well in Ashley’s empire.
