Message Of Support From Down Under

Re your article and accompanying letter from your good friend [intlink id=”39352″ type=”post”]David Edwards[/intlink], here’s a response from the Newcastle United Australian fans, well at the very leats from this ex-pat.

Please thank him for it. I felt that it conveyed what 50,000+ of our devoted and superb fanatics who attend SJP on a regular basis must feel, in addition to our millions of the same throughout the world

It breaks my heart as to what is happening at our beloved SJP since MA took over. I have supported his efforts to avoid us from becoming a financial banana republic but the majority of the rest of his decisions  a resounding NO.

I watch ,as I have watched every NUFC game live, since we came to live in Australia over 7 years ago. No matter what the time eg 3pm at the Gallowgate end is 1am in Queensland.

I watched our match against Sunderland last weekend, I was so very seriously upset and angry, that for the first time in 70 years, when I went to bed a little after 3am, I had to take a sleeping pill as I was unable to sleep.

My car registration number is NUFC 1 and at least once every 2/3 weeks,  I get someone coming up to me and demanding to know what the **** is happening to our club.

What can the Toon Army do? Nothing that hurts the club financially.

BUT

On the 5th April we play Manchester United at Geordie Mecca. This match will as you are aware will be watched in every country in the world from A-Z, with the possible exception of North Korea and their European counterparts from 12 miles away.

After the following suggestion I will wash my mouth out with a whole bottle of Listermint.

“Our great and glorious fans walk out at half time.” Even if 50% took this action, imagine

25/26 thousand empty seats being flashed around the world on TV.

Boycotting his retail businesses is pointless, MA is a proud man, public humiliation is the only way to bring him down.

I do not want us to become Blackburn,  Leeds, or Portsmouth, neither do I really want us become a Manchester City or a Chelsea. However, a mirror image of Arsenal would be fine for me.

If you wish to forward this message to David, that would be appreciated as his letter* was from the heart and made me very proud, as we have tens of thousands of fans of his quality and sad to read it.

Kind personal regards,

Andrew Kirkham.

Ex season ticket holder.
