Kevin Keegan Interview On Mike Ashley Proved Correct 3 Years On – Video

Due to Newcastle not being involved in the FA Cup, we all have a free weekend – wasn’t that nice of Newcastle United?

To be quite honest, I’m rather pleased to have a breather. The constant defeats and humiliations are getting boring now. Turning out in the freezing cold knowing full well you’re wasting your time, is something I’m losing interest in justifying, even to myself.

Whenever you use Youtube, you get given videos that are recommended to you, that you may like, songs that are similar to ones you have searched for in the past for example.

Today I was looking for some footage of a particular Newcastle game and the wonderful people of YouTube threw me a video that I hadn’t seen before. It was an ESPN pre-match affair from the week that Alan Pardew took over from Chris Hughton as Newcastle Manager (Liverpool at home) and it featured a certain Kevin Keegan and ironically, today (Valentine’s Day) is Kevins birthday. Happy Birthday Kev.

The comments on Alan Pardew from Kevin (and Chris Waddle) still stick with me to a point, although I’m starting to tire of his spineless refusal to criticise the owner and club policy. It only makes you look a fool. Towing the party line, I think they call it.

I can forgive a manager being poor and not up to the job, that’s just the way it goes. You get people in all walks of life taking jobs they might not be suited to, or good enough for. But in my opinion Alan Pardew is better than this and at some point he needs to give the owner what for (he won’t), or walk away and claim constructive dismissal like Keegan (he won’t).

Kevin however, was never going to paint Mike Ashley in a favourable light but his comments, some three years later STILL remain true and the fact that it has dragged on for three years, through crisis after crisis, joke after joke, is the biggest shame of all.
