Couldn’t get to Chelsea today so watched the match on dodgy satellite in my local, I saw Newcastle United next season and I didn’t like it.

Yes we have a few players missing but the absence of Cabaye, Coloccini and Remy just reminds us of what it will be like when the latter two leave permanently as well at the end of the season.

Newcastle started (relatively) brightly against the blues but it was only the calm before the storm.

newcastle united next seasonChelsea strolled through the match, scored three and it could have been six or seven if they’d really been bothered.

Tim Krul made some smart stops and kept the score down but the story of today was the rest of the team running round in circles chasing shadows a right-footed left-back ending up in midfield.

I even saw Chelsea fans yawning at the final whistle which was a kind of fitting epitaph to this (mis-)match.

How on earth does anybody expect us to firstly attract high calibre strikers and attacking midfielders in the summer and secondly, think that Ashley will compete to recruit them?

The storm clouds are gathering and with two home matches coming up, the pressure will be on Pardew.

Wednesday night could be a painful experience for everybody who cares about Newcastle United.
