An Easy Mistake For Joe Kinnear To Make

That Joe Kinnear quote where he said no player would leave Newcastle in the transfer window, well we’ve all done it haven’t we.

You know, you get your words a bit muddled up, especially if you’ve had a few drinks.

So when JFK told the world that no player would leave, what he really meant was that no player would be bought.

That’s it, all explained and we can all be friends again.

Our poor Director of Football makes that easy mistake, goes off on holiday for a month because it is his quietest time of the year, then comes back all refreshed and relaxed only to walk into this barrage of criticism.

Really, is this any way to treat the most respected Director of Football in the world?

This unfair criticism is a bit like the terrible stick he’s had to put up with after Joe said to judge him on his signings.

Surely it is a bit premature to criticise him when he hasn’t bought anybody in two transfer windows?

Joe quite rightly has confided to close friends that surely any decent set of fans would wait and see who he actually does buy before they criticise his transfer strategy.

How can you judge the quality of players when they haven’t even been bought?

Kinnear is sadly having second thoughts about this job he took on for his drinking partner, Joe had heard all about how deluded and quick to judge the Newcastle fans are – but never had he dreamed they would be so quick with this unwarranted criticism he’s had to put up with.

Despite it all, the Director of Football is determined to battle on and continue his considered policy of which players to next sell…oops, see how easy it is to do it, I meant to say buy but said sell…
