The Luuk De Jong price tag has been revealed as the striker states his intention to stay at Newcastle and hopes to prove himself between now and the end of the season.

Speaking after the Chelsea match, De Jong insists there is a ‘good feeling’ at Newcastle United and that he expects better on Wednesday against Tottenham.

Speaking to the Northern Echo the player had the following to say after his first full match of the season, while the newspaper revealed that the asking price for De Jong is £8m if the deal is made permanent in the summer;

“I am on loan with an option to stay and I’d like to go with that option if possible, I’d like to show what I can do and stay.

“It is a really nice big club – Newcastle would be a great place to play, I’d like to be important for the team with goals and assists as well as working hard.

“I’ve had my first full game (Chelsea) and I feel good, hopefully I can go on from here and get it sorted in the summer.

“I’ve a really good feeling about this place, though after the Sunderland defeat it was not a nice place. It was a game we could not lose but we did.

“From what I have seen here against Chelsea I think we can go on and do better at home in our next game (Spurs).”
