Can Newcastle United Move Forward After The Month From Hell?

A month from hell where Newcastle United lost their best player, dumped out of the cup (as usual) and lost for the third consecutive time against that team that is based 12 miles down the road.

That then followed by another away 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in which everyone (Ed:Maybe not quite everybody…) thought the team played well. Then another abysmal display at home against Spurs and another clean sheet at the wrong end.

So the last four  home league games have ended 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 0-4! The only way is up isn’t it? Absolutely disgraceful.

Where from here?

So Cabaye has left and the club has cashed in on the money and as usual (it’s becoming boring really) no replacement was recruited.

Ben Arfa’s contract is due to be renewed before the summer, or he could leave on the cheap in the summer like Enrique did, and from the club’s past history I think that is exactly what will happen. Then there is Remy, he is on loan and will be gone in 12 weeks and I don’t think he will sign for the club permanently, would you?

Shola Ameobi’s contract will run out in the summer and as much as I like the lad I don’t think his quality will be missed but maybe his presence, as I genuinely think he is one of the last few players that actually care about the club. Farewell Shola.

Last but not least, the captain who seems to be always injured and wants to go back home. He’s been missing most of this and last season that I think the club should cash in on him and let him go anyway.

So NUFC will be playing in the premier league next season without Coloccini, Cabaye, Ben Arfa & Remy! That is a recipe for a disaster. Will they be replaced? Will the club keep Ben Arfa and Remy? Don’t hold your breath.

What is Pardew doing?

I used to be one of the Pardew supporters from the go and straight after his first game against Liverpool at home. I think I have finally turned. The tactics are abysmal, the football is dull and predictable, and the spirits seem at a low point.

I have seen better football than this during some of the games during the relegation season! We used to talk about team spirit and unity but it seems like that has all gone down the drain.

What happens in training? Can someone tell me why the team has the worst goals record from corners in the league? Why does the team have the worst record in 3-4 years in the domestic cups out of all the teams in the top flight? Why do we see rubbish football week in week out while a below average team led by Gus Poyet manages to reach the final of the League Cup and are in the quarter final of the FA Cup? Was it luck of the draw?

What happened to some of the great young talent that was bought to the club in the last 2-3 years?  They have all gone out on loan or stuck in reserves. Who is destroying all these players? Players like Bigirimana, Abeid, Vuckic etc have all disappeared. What a shame.

What does Ashley want?

Forget the spending (what spending?), forget the Sports Direct signs everywhere (even on the Howay The Lads sign in the tunnel – having your sign put up there is simply just tacky & classless), forget marketing, sales, expansions, sports empire etc.

I am not going to talk about the same old story with Ashley sucking the life out of the club and just using NUFC as a free advertising board for his other companies. I just want to know what does he intend to do with the club.

It is obviously not working out for the fans, we want more, we want a bit of ambition, we want to keep the players that win us matches, we want to see a team that enters the field to win every game, we want to see a football manager that comes out and talks sense and let us know what is going on. Would that be what he wants as well? Probably not.

From looking at the last 3 years, we could easily see that the owner is happy to just keep the team floating in the premier league, cash in on the TV revenues, selling players, buy cheap & sell for a profit and keep the Sports Direct logo popping up everywhere on Sky Sports or beIN sports (if you live in the middle east) and have the perfect yes man who keeps things controlled on the pitch.

Would he sell the club? I hope he does. If he does go ahead and sell NUFC and buys Glasgow Rangers then he would make twice the money he could ever do with us with Rangers’ huge international following, Champions league and local titles (only 1 team to beat).

Another thing, is Ashley actually not sick of us? The majority of the fans hate him and won’t change their minds and would never forget things like Keegan-gate, Wise, JFK, St James’ Park, Shearers Bar, Alan Shearer personally, free advertising, selling payers with no replacement, etc. Or does he simply not care?

This Season?

Few games left, not much to play for (please don’t mention pride as half of the players don’t seem to have any). What will happen could be an indication of what to expect next season (minus Coloccini, HBA & Remy).

I hope the poor buggers who bought half season tickets get to see something in return for their hard earned money in the next 12 weeks.
