Alan Pardew – Obertan Can Help Make Up For Cabaye Loss
I thought I’d heard everything but now Alan Pardew has stated that Gabriel Obertan is one of the players he is looking to, to make up for the loss of Yohan Cabaye.
This is what the manager had to say when asked about life after Cabaye…
“Hatem and Sammy…and Marveaux and Obertan – to a degree, are going to have to give us more creative flair.
“I did fear missing Yohan’s quality and so I was buoyed by the performances (against Norwich) of Hatem and Sammy
“We will have to progress with what we have got and I don’t think that there will be a problem with the spirit, though results have an impact on that.
“We have got to try and keep the same form that we have had until now and see if we can finish 8th or higher.”
I don’t know how the Newcastle manager kept a straight face when he told the world that he was expecting a player (Ben Arfa) who has been made into the scapegoat this season and totally sidelined, two players (Sammy and Marveaux) who have been totally ignored – couldn’t even get on the pitch when he made seven changes for the FA Cup match.
Then honestly, mentioning Gabriel Obertan – he must surely know that this will just wind the fans up even further, a player who (sadly) is booed whenever he makes it onto the pitch, whilst the rest of us either hold our head in our hands, or hands on our sides to stop them splitting with laughter.
