Alan Pardew Looks Forward To Seeing Players In ‘Unusual Positions’

Alan Pardew was asked about what he expected from the rest of the season at today’s Hull pre-match press conference and he said he was looking forward to seeing players in ‘unusual positions’.

The Newcastle boss believing that safety from experimentation will allow him to experiment with players in different/unusual positions for future reference.

Pardew claiming he’s had ‘good success’ with this in his time at Newcastle, though sadly he gave us no examples of this working – which would have been handy as I don’t recall any major successes on this front.

“It gives us a chance to look at one or two younger players and have a look at players in a different role.

“There’s been good success with that in the years I have been here.

“We’ll look at one or two playing in unusual positions and see if they perform.”

The United manager also believes the Villa win has given his team confidence and enabled them to start looking up the table again, rather than down;

“It makes you look above you rather than below, when you get a win like that.

“It was an important game for both teams, so therefore it gave us a big gap to Aston Villa.

“We also needed it for our own confidence, it gets to a stage where it starts affecting the players.”
