The Trelford Mills Appreciation Society
The team gave an impressive battling display today and but for one unbelievable decision we may well have got something out of this game.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and we may still have lost this game. Joe Hart got some stick but probably won the game for City.
HOWEVER, the decision from Mike Jones to disallow Tiote’s worldy was just insane!! He obviously wasn’t sure given that the lino didn’t flag and he had to go and have a little chat, probably based on the Man City players desperate attempts to flap their arms in hope more than expectation.
For those of a certain age, the names Trelford Mills and Brian Coddington will bring shivers down the spine for refereeing performances.
Now we can add to that list Mike Jones. How this man dare show his face again at St James’ Park will be one to watch out for. His performance against Southampton wasn’t great but he excelled himself today.
I wait with bated breath for some dodgy pundit on MOTD2 to defend the referee. I’ve seen this goal several times on TV since the game finished and how on earth that goal can be disallowed will be totally beyond me. Hart has a clear sight of Tiote’spiledriver and there was more chance of me obstructing his view from my seat in the Strawberry Corner as any of the players on the pitch.
The ball may well fly past Gouf but that made absolutely no difference to how the ball ended up in the old onion bag. That is even in my slightly inebriated state which makes typing this equally challenging.
We know Tiote can’t score for toffee apart from one wonder strike every 100 games or so. If that had of been me scoring that goal on a Sunday morning only for the ref to chalk it off, I think I may now be looking at a very lengthy ban. And that’s coming from someone who is as mild mannered as Hong Kong Phooey!!
So Mike Jones, if you can, take a good long hard look in the mirror and try and convince yourself you got that right today.
Enjoy your sleep tonight if you can possibly rest your head on the pillow knowing you were right!!
