The Premier League food chain workings could see Newcastle sign Demba Ba once again, according to press reports.
At the top of the food chain it is claimed that Napoli have knocked back a £50m bid for striker Gonzalo Higuain but Mourinho could go back for him.
With players such as Mata and De Bruyne potentially leaving to help finance the deal, it is said that Ba could also be out of the door if a new striker is brought in and pushes him even further down Chelsea’s own pecking order.
However, Chelsea would almost certainly block any move to another title contender which would then block a number of potential new clubs for Ba, including Arsenal who have been credited with interest.
So who does that leave?
Well three clubs put in the frame by The Telegraph are West Ham, Fulham and Newcastle United.
Apart from his still being able to get the tube to ground, you would hope that in any other aspect Newcastle United would be a more attractive proposition to a quality striker, which to me Demba Ba most certainly still is.
In purely footballing terms, you must admit that the idea of seeing Demba Ba rather than Shola alongside Loic Remy is an interesting/attractive proposition, especially with Remy’s willingness to play wide left and the mobility/threat he gives from there as well as through the middle.
If Ashley is willing to pay Remy the wages then why not Ba?
It could just get our season right back on track.
