The Steven Taylor Newcastle viewpoint was at odd with his manager when it came to the FA Cup display against Cardiff yesterday.
While Alan Pardew believed that United had controlled the game for all but the last twenty odd minutes, Taylor had a much more damning verdict on the Newcastle performance and believed Cardiff deserved their win.
This is what Steven Taylor had to say to NUFC TV after the final whistle;
“I think maybe twenty minutes first half we played well and possibly ten minutes second half we had a good little stint.
“They just wanted it that little bit more, set-pieces win you games and we didn’t deal with the set-plays today.
“It is a killer blow, this competition is massive but the last three years it just hasn’t been good enough.
“At the start of the game he (Cisse) was causing them problems and you could see the chances were coming, It was a matter of time before we got the first one; we believed we could get the second but it didn’t happen, though Hatem hit the post.”
Whoever deserved to win, the result has left a lot of questions for both Alan Pardew and Steven Taylor to answer moving forward.
