The latest Remy Cabella transfer news is that the player is adamant he won’t leave Montpellier until the end of this season.
When asked in France about Newcastle’s interest amongst others, the player has insisted that he won’t walk out on the club and leave them to almost certain relegation.
While the French club are still one place above the relegation zone, the fact is that Cabella has had a hand in eleven of their eighteen goals, top scorer with six from midfield and he has already provided five assists. Without their star man they would be staring relegation in the face.
Remy told RMC;
“For me this is my last season (at Montpellier) and I want to finish it, I don’t want to leave by leaving Montpellier in Ligue 2.
“Marseille were interested as well early in the season but I have no regrets choosing to stay at Montpellier.”
The President of Montpellier has already stated he is desperate to hold on to the player until the end of the year but would look at a transfer completed now which would allow the player to remain in France until the summer.
With Newcastle so desperate for both goals and creativity, Cabella ticks a lot of boxes. The question is though whether United would be prepared to accept a deal that wouldn’t see him arrive until the summer, which may tell you a lot about Ashley’s ambitions, or lack of them, this season. However, with Montpellier desperate for an injection of cash, it would be little surprise to see Newcastle wait until late in January to try and drive a hard bargain.
