It might not be the most comfortable week coming up but it will be full of intrigue, starting today with Yohan Cabaye and the countdown to team selection v Norwich on Tuesday night.
Alan Pardew’s pre-Norwich press conference takes place on Monday afternoon and if the Newcastle manager mentions Yohan Cabaye having a ‘niggle’ ahead of the match against the Canaries then we’d all better start worrying.
PSG must surely have know that their opening £14m bid was never going to be accepted but now that their interest is truly out in the open, it must be odds on that further offer(s) will be forthcoming, potentially from other clubs as well.
All the noises coming out of St.James’ Park, almost exclusively from Pardew himself – at least the official ones, are along the lines of every player has his price and so it is surely simply a case of whether anybody will offer enough money to get Ashley to sell. The Newcastle owner must be absolutely loving this.
With the transfer window closing on Friday, it would be a brave man to confidently predict Cabaye will be playing against the mackems on Saturday.
Whether or not our French genius plays against Norwich will either give us some hope or simply confirm that a move is inevitable.
