Pardew Gives Coloccini Injury Update
Alan Pardew has updated on the Fabricio Coloccini injury suffered against West Brom, revealing that his captain will hopefully start training in the lead up to the derby match against Sunderland but definitely won’t be in a position to play in that game.
It also looks like the type of injury that will need to be handled carefully on a wait and see basis, as the Newcastle manager went on to say that while his top defender definitely won’t face the mackems, it will be taken on a week to week basis as to when he will be available.
“I think he (Coloccini) will return to training, maybe in the Sunderland week, but he certainly won’t play against Sunderland.
“Maybe the week after, or possibly the week after that.
“It is frustrating for Colo, he is desperate to play.”
While Newcastle were excellent attacking wise, especially in the first half, against West Ham. Without Coloccini the reshuffled defence conceded a shocker of a goal just before half-time and were thankful that Carroll and Cole missed absolute sitters in the second half. A poor Hammers side cutting Newcastle open far too easily at times.
At least the return of Mathieu Debuchy from suspension will up the quality a bit when he returns against Norwich.
